How It Works

How our Newport PA milling shop works

01

Drawing Review

We review your drawings, or build one with you in SolidWorks if you're starting from scratch. Every decision that follows is built around your part.

02

Programming

Frank, Brian, or Nate build your program in Mastercam or Esprit, each bringing 30+ years of programming experience to the job.

03

Setup

We select the right mill, 3, 4, or 5-axis, and configure the setup, running pallet changers where volume calls for it.

04

Machining

Your part runs on Brother, Mori Seiki, Fanuc, or Feeler equipment, with the programmer available at the machine throughout the run.

05

Inspection

Every order ships with documented inspection using Geo Met 101 and CMM Manager. Nothing leaves NTM without a record.

Can one shop handle both prototype and production?

Yes, and at NTM, all milling runs on the same floor with the same team. There's no gap between the programmer who built your prototype and the machinist running production. If a drawing needs to change between the two, we make that adjustment before a single production part runs.

How do I know my parts will meet spec?

Every CNC milling order at NTM ships against an ISO 9001:2015 certified inspection process valid through 2029. Smaller runs receive full inspection across every piece. Larger production orders follow a documented chart that scales with volume. Nothing ships without a record.

Questions, Answered

Frequently asked questions

3-axis milling moves along X, Y, and Z and covers the majority of standard parts. 4-axis adds rotation around one axis for more complex geometry without repositioning. 5-axis adds a second rotational axis, making it possible to machine highly complex parts in a single setup. NTM runs all three configurations across 25 mills.
Brother, Mori Seiki, Fanuc, and Feeler mills across 25 machines with 3, 4, and 5-axis capability. Select machines are equipped with pallet changers for uninterrupted production runs, and all programming runs in Mastercam and Esprit.
Yes. Prototype and production both run on the same floor with the same team. If you have a part that's never been made before, we sit down with you, build the drawing in SolidWorks, work through programming, and move into production when you're ready.
